There could be a number of reasons your blades are experiencing weld breakage when using them. Typically it is thought to be an issue with manufacturing but there are plenty of other reasons this could be happening. Here are some common problems with bandsaw blades.
Check your tension to ensure it is not too high. If the wheel diameter is too small then you will likely experience a weld break. If the blade rubs up against the wheel flange this can also cause a weld break.
Checking that your guides are not worn or frozen in place. Chips can get stuck in the guides or your feed rate may be too high, causing weld breaks. Feed systems need to work properly to keep weld breaks to a minimum, as well. Internal stress pinching on blades is also avoidable but a common cause of these breaks.
Many cases of weld breaks are unique but these are some of the most common causes you can actively track yourself. Remember this list, check your tension, is your wheel diameter too small, is your blade rubbing against the wheel flange, are your guides worn or frozen, is your feed rate too heavy, are there chips stuck in your guides, is the feed system working correctly and is there internal stress pinching the blade?
Keep these all in mind and make sure to check your machine before every use, during, and after if you need to. Keeping your tools working properly will save you a lot of time and money!
