Bench grinders are stationary and usually bolted to a workstation. They have two rotating abrasive wheels with different grain sizes for grinding and shaping tools. You can also exchange the grinding wheels for wire brushes or buffing wheels if you need to polish or clean any of your workpieces.

Belt grinders are typically used in the processing of metals with coated abrasions. This includes finishing, sharpening, deburring, or removing stock. These are similar to belt sanders in the sense that they feature an abrasive coated belt for finishing surfaces.

There are a few other variations of grinders but all of them serve their own purpose and provide their own solution for various projects. Utilizing all of the attachment options can make your jobs much easier and having a tool you can specialize to your needs is always a huge plus. If you’re unsure which grinder may be right for your job don’t be afraid to do a little research because having the best tools ensures a smooth and easy job every time!
